2022 San Francisco Bay Area Mini Sessions

Family of three during mini sessions in Lover's Lane, San Francisco.

I might be one of the few family photographers in the Bay Area to say this, but I really do enjoy Fall Mini Sessions. Yes, they are fast paced and a lot of work, but they’re also a ton of fun. I love meeting several families in one day. I love helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera and making the experience a breeze. Most of all, I love being a tiny part in people’s lives and connecting.

My biggest reward is seeing families of all shapes return year after year. There are some families + couples whom I’ve photographed for 7+ consecutive years already. And to top it off, every single one of them is extremely kind, grateful and a beautiful human being overall. It truly is a beautiful thing. And I feel beyond lucky and grateful to be able to do this with every fall season.

This year I’ll be making my rounds with Fall Mini Sessions all throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. I’ll be in Los Altos, Oakland, Marin, Half Moon Bay, several spots in San Francisco and for the first time, San Jose!

If you’re reading this, and you consider yourself a nice human being (because who doesn’t like nice people, right?), I hope to see you at one of my mini session sessions!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Who are mini sessions for?
A: Mini sessions are for anyone looking for some quick, simple and beautiful professional photos. Since mini sessions are only 20 minutes long, they only allow enough time for simple portraits and (depending on how everyone cooperates) a couple of candid photos. People use these photos for their annual holiday card, special announcement or to update their family photo. Many families make it their annual tradition.

Q: Are mini sessions only for families with children?

A: Mini sessions are for EVERYONE. Engaged, married, simply in love couples are all welcomed.

Q: Can I book a mini session to take engagement/maternity/anniversary photos?
A: Of course.

Q: What if it rains?
A: If it pours rain, sessions will be moved indoors, in my studio located in Benicia, CA or you may be given the option to postpone to another available mini session date. Rosa will make final decision.

Q: What about smokey outdoor conditions due to fires?
A: If it’s extremely smokey (AQI 155+), sessions will be moved indoors, in my studio located in Benicia, CA. Anything below AQI 155 will continue to be held in it’s original outdoor location.

Q: How long will it take to receive my digital photos?
A: About 3-7 days after your session you'll receive an online gallery with about 35+ edited images to choose your final 20 photos. Final photos they'll be emailed within 24hours after finalizing your selection. Easy peasy.

Q: What if I LOVE all my photos—can I purchase extras or all?
A: Yes! For an extra fee, yes, you can purchase extras or all your beautiful photos. Ask Rosa for details.

Q: What if none of these dates/locations work for me?
A: The only other option is to schedule a regular 1-hour session. Regular sessions are 1 hour long, include 40+ digital images, a location/time of choice and online download of your images. For details on private sessions and availability, email Rosa at hello@rosadelgado.com. Availability for private session is very limited.

Q: How should I prep for my mini session?
A: If you have little one’s, make sure they are well fed BEFORE your scheduled time. There’s nothing more difficult than a hungry and crying baby. Feel free to bring a snack or candy to keep the little one’s happy.

Q: What should I wear during my session?
A:

  • First and foremost, do wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and good (including your child).

  • Avoid being matchy matchy.

  • Color coordinate your outfits by picking 2-3 primary colors to work with.

  • Wear solid colors that compliment each other or different shades/hues of that color.

  • Wear solid, neutral or earthtone colors. These colors work best in photos: white, black, ivory, blue (soft or jean-color), soft or deep brown, mustard yellow, deep green and gray.

  • Avoid wearing neon/bright colors.

  • Layers are your best friend.

  • Patterns work well, but keep them to a minimum or layer them with a jacket/vest/sweater.

  • These are professional photos. Please avoid wearing anything with logos or graphics.

  • Wear shoes that are comfortable to walk in as we’ll be moving around.

  • Last but not least, if you book your session + need a 2nd opinion on your outfit selections, you’re welcome to ask Rosa!

Q: Can we include our dog?
A: Depends on the location. The Los Altos location does not allow dogs. If dogs are not allowed at a location, you’ll see a “No Dogs” note. If you’re unsure, email Rosa at hello@rosadelgado.com

Any other questions before booking? Email Rosa. Otherwise, hope to see you in one of these mini sessions.
